If you are a regular shopper at Lilac & Lily’s, you will know how we love a Christmas window.
As soon as one Christmas is over we are planning the next one! Each year it gets harder to think of something new and different and more importantly, original.
We like to think that our window displays reflect us and our little shop and much discussion takes place about what we are going to do, though things don’t always go according to plan!
Last year we had our window all planed out as always and we were very excited about the huge glass reindeer we had ordered to build our Christmas display around. Unfortunately, when we came to unpack the wonderful specimen it was broken (those of you who know me will know that was a huge disaster of the first degree!) As always, that steadying little voice in my ear that is Sue told me not to panic. (‘Just stick the tree in there and a few lights and a couple of presents and bobs your uncle!’). Unsurprisingly, she was right.
We try to alternate each year by doing a more grown up style window one year and children’s one the following. I think my favourite window was one of my very first attempts where I used a mannequin and lots of material that I cut into strands to make a sort of snow queen. I would love to hear if you have a favourite.
So now we come to this year...
Well what a year it’s been for families, businesses and our high streets. We all know our Christmas might be very different this year and we don’t know yet if we will be able to open our doors to you, so we wanted to cheer you and your children up with a family window that will bring a smile to your faces and we really hope it does just that.
Let us know what you think.
As always, stay safe
Maria
