What Do You Really Know About The Products You Buy?

Here at Lilac & Lily’s we pride ourselves on buying as many British and ethical products as possible. Of course that is not always possible but we really do try! So I thought you might like to know where some of those beautiful gifts, cards and clothing that you buy from us come from.
Some of our best selling gifts are our purses and bags from Lua. Designed in the UK and made in Vietnam these beautiful hand crafted purses and bags are made from fabrics such as velvet, corduroys tweeds and jersey. They combine beautiful colours and patterns featuring inspiration from the natural world such as animals and flowers.
Lua support a number of causes including donating 10% of their profits of certain ranges to Rewilding Britain. They also support Save Vietnam Wildlife, an organisation helping to prevent the extinction of endangered wildlife from illegal wildlife trading and loss of habitat. As well as giving financial support to the Kianh Foundation a charity based in the UK helping disabled children and adults in Central Vietnam.
As if that wasn’t enough, they work closely with the small family run business in Vietnam to ensure that the workers are paid a fair wage with good, clean and safe working conditions. This is just a brief insight into Lua and what they do and provide for their workers.
So rest assured that when you buy a Lua product from us you are helping a lot of people.
Another of your favourites is East of India gifts. East of India take their responsibility to the environment very seriously. They have been involved with planting trees in Indonesia for a number of years. The wood they use in today’s products were trees planted 10 years ago and for every tree used another one is planted.
Thought clothing is a fashion brand with sustainability as its core value. All of their suppliers use organic, renewable and recycled sources where ever they can. None of their harvesting contributes to habitat loss or destruction and they make a huge effort to make sure water and energy is conserved wherever possible. They make every effort to reuse and recycle wherever they can.
We have been stocking socks and underwear from Thought clothing for a number of years and we are now stocking Thought clothing!
How many of us think about where the clothing and products we buy come from and how they affect the environment and the people and animals that live in it?
We are not perfect at Lilac & Lily’s but we like to think we go some way to helping improve things.
As time goes on, we are doing our best to ensure more and more of our stock comes from ethical and sustainable sources, helps support small businesses or gives a little something back, as much more of our stock already does!
Happy Shopping and as always, stay safe.
Maria
